Vlad Tenev and Baiju Bhatt quietly ship a social investing network called Analyst. Rate stocks, share takes, argue with strangers about earnings calls. The Analyst is born.
The pivot
Robinhood's own launch blog calls it straight: “Robinhood's predecessor, called Analyst.” The social layer gets shelved. The brokerage ships instead.
13 years of silence
Analyst becomes a footnote. Robinhood becomes a verb. Nobody says “analyst” unless they mean the guy on CNBC.

Even their own marketing agrees
Open robinhood.com/us/en/social right now. The hero demo, "see real trades unfold in real time," is a trader account named TheAnalyst, live trading a mock position. Turns out The Analyst was never just a name. Even Robinhood's own product treats them like a person.
